SKion Water’s understanding of the processes and requirements for semiconductor manufacturing makes us the ideal partner for total water management solutions in the fabrication of raw silicon wafers, microprocessors, digital memory chips, flat-panel displays (FPD) and thin-film transistor (TFT).

Ultrapure Water Production

SKion Water provides the international semiconductor industry with the highest quality ultrapure water and satisfies stringent total organic compound (TOC) criteria.

We supply the design, installation and commissioning of high-tech ultrapure water treatment (UPW) systems, providing customers with the best fully integrated solutions to treat and recycle water at the most efficient energy levels. For the production of UPW, we use a combination of technologies and processes such as membranes, ion exchange and thermal processes. With over 200 UPW treatment systems installed worldwide, we guarantee our customers the highest water specifications of the industry, state-of-the-art technology and lowest cost of ownership.

Wastewater Treatment

Committed to protecting the environment, conserving resources and to meeting new manufacturing challenges, SKion Water has developed a state-of-the-art semiconductor wastewater treatment process designed to meet current and future reclaim and discharge requirements.

Semiconductor fabrication processes result in a variety of wastewater compositions which require specialized treatment to meet stringent global and local reclamation and discharge regulations. We offer customized solutions to treat wastewater containing fluoride, ammonia, metals, inorganic particles and other contaminants.

Water Recycling/Reclamation

Semiconductor fabrication requires large volumes of ultrapure water (UPW) and chemicals during the production process, generating wastewater which must be reclaimed. Our reuse and reclaim treatment systems significantly reduce effluent wastewater and raw water needed in production.

A reliable semiconductor water recycling and reclamation system is necessary to ensure an economical production process and to safeguard the resources needed for the growth of the industry.

The low-level total organic solids (TOC) rinse waters (second and final rinses, and organic‐free rinses) account for roughly 40% of the total UPW consumption in an average semiconductor fabrication facility. Depending on the water’s conductivity, systems with or without ion‐exchange are installed.

Rinse water containing organics is generated from several cleaning processes and organic baths. Through SKion Water's organic removal systems, high TOC rinse water can be recovered for recycling or reuse. These specialized plants consist of advanced monitoring and control devices, followed by activated carbon filters and various organic removal steps. The entire process is specifically designed to the type and concentration of the various organic compounds.

Analytical Equipment

SKion Water has developed innovative and reliable analyzers to monitor water components or contaminants such as trihalomethanes (THM) and urea.

Our upgraded online analyzers offer continuous and accurate urea/THM measurements in real-time.

The urea analyzer can be applied to any process water stream where urea concentration is of interest. The permanent monitoring is able to capture seasonal urea variations and adapt treatment process steps to maximize its removal. The THM analyzer is able to give measurements in real-time for potable, wastewater, process and high purity water with the aim to control the THM removal water disinfection process.
